We are a family-owned business dedicated to helping small businesses with their bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, and tax needs.

ANDREW CALVERT, CPA, CPBC

Owner and Founder

Andrew manages the consulting, tax and marketing side of our business. Prior to starting Calvert & Company in South Carolina, Andrew owned Calvert and Company, CPA, PC and Payroll Express (both in Northern Virginia) for over 15 years. In 2014, Andrew migrated south and created a satellite location in Charleston, purchasing and expanding Dennis Miller’s long-time Charleston accounting & tax practice. Andrew graduated from Marymount University with a B.A. in Business Administration and a concentration in accounting. Since then, he has worked extensively with small business clients, has mentored and coached dozens of individuals and consulted for hundreds of small business owners. Born in England, Andrew grew up in the Northern Virginia area and enjoys reading, traveling, soccer, skiing, and golf.

TESSA CALVERT, B.Sc.

Chief Operating Officer

Tessa manages the office operations as well as the accounting, bookkeeping and payroll side of our business. She is a QuickBooks expert and loves training clients to love it too (or at least to get the most out of it). Tessa has her B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario. Before joining Calvert & Company, she founded TAW Consulting Services in 2002, which helped small businesses with all their operational needs including accounting & finance, human resources, information technology, infrastructure, and administration; as well as coordinating office setups, expansions and moves. During the latter years of TAW, Tessa focused on accounting, monthly bookkeeping and payroll services. Born in Holland (but still a British citizen,) Tessa was raised in the Washington, D.C. metro area. She met Andrew in 2010 and moved to South Carolina with him in 2014 where they later married in 2016. She enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and playing golf.

Jean Ansaldo

Jean has been a tax preparer and bookkeeper with Calvert & Company since we set up shop in Charleston in 2015. She works out of the West Ashley office. Jean is a Charleston native and has been in the accounting business for over 40 years. She knows everybody and everybody knows her! In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family and pets.

Leah McPherson

Leah has also been with Calvert & Company since we set up shop in Charleston in 2015. She handles the administrative and bookkeeping needs for our West Ashley office. Leah was born in New York, but has lived in the Charleston area for over 20 years. She was a small business owner herself (she owned a small restaurant downtown) for many years, so she loves working with and helping other small business owners. Leah enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, watching movies and gardening.

Taylar Tyson, B.A.

Taylar joined Calvert & Company in early 2018. Taylar does bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative tasks and works mainly out of our Goose Creek office location. She holds a B.A. in Corporate Communications with a minor in Business Administration from the College of Charleston. Taylar began her career with Wachovia Bank as a personal banker and transitioned to an area sales assistant for the mortgage department. After marrying her husband, Louis, in 2002, she was a stay at home mother for their two sons. Prior to joining Calvert & Company, she was the office manager for Tyson Tax & Accounting Services. She was born and raised in Summerville, SC. She enjoys the beach, reading, and spending time with her family.
